Why I don't mind being labeled a hipster....

As of late, I have been contemplating a lot about myself. I've been thinking about how I have changed since high school and even within the time I've been in college. Also I've been thinking about how I rarely listen to hip-hop anymore. I mean yeah I'll download whats new and add it to my iPod but i usually don't LISTEN to it. My taste in music have returned to what I liked in late middle school and high school which is mostly indie-rock and alternative. Of course I have changed since then but I like similar music. In 9th Grade I listened to: The Strokes,The White Stripes, Jet, The Vines, etc. Now I listen to: Grizzly Bear, MGMT, Chester French, and Vampire Weekend among other things. So after I realized that I had an epiphany, I have always been a "hipster". I always like alt-rock and indie-rock. I always love vintage clothes and cool t-shirts, along with chucks or vans and slim jeans. And since I have always been one it is weird to think that I am finally just like everyone else. And yes that sucks, but the slim optimistic side of me realizes that that also means I always had my own swag that was stylish. And I'm glad that I was original and unique at such a young age. But its even more ironic to me because when I was younger alot of the other black kids thought I acted "white". So to see them influenced by white culture and just swagger jacking it is hilarious to me. But in the end it shows that America has the potential of becoming one....one day....hopefully. But yeah I'm back homies tune in for more holla.
