Why I Support Barack Obama...

I love being black. I felt I had to start this post with that statement from my heart. But does me being black completely influence my view on politics....no. But I am 1000% behind Sen. Obama. His being of African descent does influence my pride in him but is not the only reason why I will vote for him. I am voting for him for many reasons.I believe that just because someone is young and not as experienced as someone else doesn't mean they are wrong. People never say how Sen. Obama is older than former presidents Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Bill Clinton. No one mentions that. No one also talks about how Abraham Lincoln had little actual political experience at his time of his election as President. But I do believe that some of this has to do with race. Everyone was so ready for him to be a vice-president. But Why? Like Chris Rock said they would only ask a black man to do something stupid like run with someone he could beat. Why is it okay for him to be VP(second in command) but too inexperienced to run a country. At this time I would also like to say why do peoplebelieve McCain can change America. It is so easy to see that his whole campaign is run by others and not by his vision. I respect him as a war vetern but not as a man. He falls on the war too much, he answers questions how people want him too, and he flat out is Bush's older cousin in response to politics. I refuse to vote for someone that is afraid to do what he feels. Also I refuse to let someone try and scare me into voting for someone. People as I have stated before open your eyes. F___ the politics. Go by a man's soul. People even though you wouldnt know this McCain wants to get rid of Medicare(leaving alot of people to die), legal(safe non life threatning) abortions, and stay in war for a possible 100 years. The M.F. Iraqis and his homie Baby Bush want to withdraw troops by 2010. Wtf even Bush has an eye on the prize. McCain is outta of touch not just with America but reality. Also this dummy says Off Shore drilling will help the energy problem. He is right it will give a small push on energy in 15 years if that soon. In 15 years??? McSame, I mean McBush, I'm sorry I mean White Hairred Dude(shout out Paris Hilton) will be 87 in 15 years. No offense but i'm sure he is dead by then. So what you want phony bullshit promises from a dude who doesnt know how many houses he has? (White Hairred Dude) Or a man cut from the cloth of the Kennedys who will work with America to change the world. Decide and do research....

Official Review: The Game's L.A.X

As Stated Below(and Album link), L.A.X leaked earlier this week. Personally I feel the album is a huge step forward for him as an emcee. The album has reflections of the west coast sound he and us(well me and the splifted team at least) grew up on. The album however is not all about lowriders, gangs, and other sterotypes of California life. He actually talks about serious topics like life, death, his heroes in rap and life( such as his song on the album with Nas entitled "Letter to The King" about Dr. King and his song "Never Can Say Goodbye" about 2pac and Biggie). His album has strong contributions also. Lil' Wayne, Ludacris, Common, Raekwon, Ice Cube, ans the before mentioned Nas among others appear on the album. The guest may seem to take away from The Game, at least to people that haven't listened to the album. The Game has become an emcee. He raps waymore complex than on his previous albums. I mean I have been a pretty hard critic on him but he has stepped up. Songs that feature this improvement are: L.A.X. Files, Bulletproof Diaries, Ya Heard, Let Us Live, and Angel. Overall, I feel LAX is pretty good I will give it 4/5 joints. The Game's improved rapping and great beats from Kanye, Cool & Dre, Nottz, DJ Toomp, and Scott Storch(what he is still making beats lol) make i a pretty good album. Cop that( Don't just download buy the cds we approve of) Peace....

Tupac is Not the Greatest MC Of All Time

Yes I said It. But understand what i mean by an emcee. By saying he is not a good emcee does not take away the fact that Tupac Amaru Shakur is the greatest rapper that will ever live and is the most influential rapper to walk this earth. To many this would seem like a blasphemous statement. To say that the greatest rapper of all time is not the greatest emcee doesn't make since to alot of you. Alright lets look at Tupac for his skills and faults. Tupac is the most charismatic rapper ever. He connects with the middle aged white stock broker and the teen aged urban black student. He is compared to great leaders like Malcolm, Martin, and Huey. His words show the best and worst aspects of society. But this makes him a great rapper, artist, and poet but not a great emcee. The main aspect of being an emcee is having strength in skills of delivery, meaningless, and actual rhyme scheme. Now Tupac had depth in his words but with his rhyme scheme and delivery he lacked the skills of a Rakim, a Slick Rick, and even a Biggie. Biggie could rap in such detail the smallest things. He captured the essence of subconscious fear better than anyone. Also Biggie used an advanced vocabulary in almost every bar he spit. Now was it as culturally defining as Tupac... well no but that is what separates a good MC from a good rapper. I believe the main problem in hip-hop especially in younger generations is people really don't listen to Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, and especially pioneers like Rakim and Slick Rick. They take magazine and televisions word that Tupac is the god of rap in both emceeing and overall rapping. This is a mistake which I believe has hurt rap today. Because it is ridiculous to say that Tupac can freestyle better than Biggie or Jay-Z. That is because Tupac is not a free stylist. You would say Lebron can shoot 3s better than Ray Allen you know why cause he can't. People are dumb and don't do research. People have gotten so lazy they don't check statistics. By believing everything you hear you become a tool of fascism. And if you don't understand that look it up for God's sake. Use fucking Wikipedia for a chance. So before you write me hate mail or shit like that go get 2pac Cd's listen to them. Go get Biggie's Cd's and Jay-Z's and Nas and Rakim and Slick Rick go listen to real rap people not bullshit. But before I finish understand Tupac is my favorite rapper. But Biggie is my favorite emcee. Now let the debating begin...

Game Over? By Guest Writer: By Del0 of the Goon Squad

The Game is one of the many artist this year releasing a highly anticipated album L.A.X. But it also according to the Game himself his last. Yes the game said he is calling it a quit after his new album comes out L.A.X. But Why? I think the game is a good emcee. From beefin and holding his own with 50cent to even workin with Lil Wayne. Every emcee has there ups and downs and The Game went through his. But he says hip-hop isnt a place for him anymore. Because with his song "911 Is A Joke" he said he reached out to other rappers to help and support him, but nobody did. They juss told him a bunch of excuses why they couldnt.[911 is a joke was made in response to the Sean Bell shooting]. The Game said that hip-hop isnt how it used too be(which this site agrees completely with) and he feels that he doesnt want to deal with people in the rap game. So he's gonna be behind scenes from now on. Basically going into his DRE MODE producing and all that stuff. But the question left is what is the future for west coast rap? Who will carry the torch of one of the richest regions in Hip-Hop history?

New Jay-Z Song: Jockin' Jay-Z & Is 2008 gonna close as a Good yr in Rap?

Hov is back. And the Blueprint 3 is on the way also. His new song is Jockin' Jay-Z/ Dopeboy Fresh. The song is produced by Kanye and uses a sample of a Run DMC song. The song has all the fury and fire of great Jay-Z single. He lashes out a critics and praises friends and even gives a rest in peace show out to Pimp C. 2008 might go down in hip hop history as a sucessful following year to the now legendary 2007. 2008 is strong with still unreleased anticipated albums. Young Jeezy's The Recession, T.I.'s Papertrail, and the most anticipated album in hip hop history (yes rookies more than Tha Carter III) Dr. Dre's Detox. Detox is already being regarded as a classic before any tracks have been heard. Dre promises to have Jay-Z and his "heir" Lil Wayne on tracks( also possible ghostwork for both mcs.) So with these Albums in line to finish a good year 2008 might be a rare back to back good yrs in Hip Hop. Let us pray...

Fan Appreciation: Great Rap Downloads

We just celebrated a week in service(only a week and already so much). So I would like to give back to my community with free music. What makes a better gift than one that keeps giving. It is a wide variety of classic albums. I tried to put some albums that are hard to find both physically and online such as (Hot Boys-Guerilla Warfare, Slick Rick- The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, etc) So enjoy homies imma add some new cds when new good ones come out lol...

Featured Lady: Ms. Keri Hilson

To many of you Ms. Hilson may be a new face. A gorgeous but new face. Along with that face is a wonderful singing voice, songwriting skills, and long long lovely legs lol. The 24 yr old Atlanta beauty has already made quite a name for herself. She can be seen in videos with Timberland, Rich Boy and Polow the Don. To more conservative hip- hop heads she can be seen in Nas's Hero video( which she is featured on.) Ms. Hilson written many successful songs for other artist like Avant's 4 Minutes, Omarion's Icebox, and Luda's Runaway Love. She is releasing her first album later this fall entitled In A Perfect World. And every time I see her I feel like I'm in a perfect world...

The Hot Boys Are Back?

Yeah I'm just suprised as you. But the greatest thing about this is they have a new song, If I Ain't A Hot Boy. I remember the Hot Boys. I had Guerilla Warfare in 4th Grade and was a huge fan so this is great news. (Its just weird to think about Lil' Wayne was a young teenager the last time they released a new album) Plus this comes after so many bad news in the last week so the hope a dream coming in the real is amazing. I posted the link below to download the new track...

Legend Isaac Hayes Dies

I can't believe this. Two legendary black performers died two days in a row. First Bernie Mac now the father of disco, forefather for rap, and uncle of funk. Isaac Hayes was only 65. While that might seem old think about our current president is in his sixties. I hope all the readers are aware of the impact of Hayes on music. He is most known for his work on the soundtrack of Shaft. That soundtrack was one of the first vinyl albums i ever bought. And is one of the great albums of all time. Also Hayes is well known as Chef on South Park. Hayes' death is a surprise because he seemed to be in good heath for an older music statesmen. I can only pray for both the Hayes family and the "Mac" family. Thank you...

Legend: Bernie Mac 1957-2008

AMERICA the Mac Man is dead. I found out this morning around 8 A.M. I didnt believe it, after all I had heard those rumors the last time he was in the hospital. But i still can't believe how one of funniest and baddest muthafuckers(as he would say) is dead. He was young, 50, and still had a long career ahead of him. He came from the Southside of Chicago and became one of the highest paid black comedians. He went from small nighclubs to being in movies with George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, and many of the great actors of our time. He was a true King of Comedy and will be truely missed. And I still will never undersand how we lost two of the greatest comedians of all time(RIP George Carlin) in the same summer. peace...

Is Racism Still Alive???

Hell yeah it is. Is it as open as it once was? No, well at least not usually. But the world is like how Radio Raheem said it was. Life is filled with love and hate. Everytime you think love is winning hate punches you in the face. Racism always punches you in the face hard as hell. It hurts and you don't know how to feel and you say the age old satement. "Damn that was racist as fuck!" This summer alone since i been back in Alabama( stand up) I have experienced several moments like that. I have been pulled over several times and harassed by police, followed in stores, and got several odd looks in all white restaurants. Thats a harsh reality from the picture painted in the news that racism doesnt exist. All this has happened in the last month. People think that if racism isnt seen in their life it doesnt exist. That is ridiculous. And what is worst about that is its not always white people who feel that way. I have heard many a statement from black conservatives that is 10x worst than that of white conservatives. Like Uncle Tom I mean Larry Elder. He has a book called Stupid Black Men. Wow. It states that racism is not a problem in society and the main problem in america is laziness of black people. That kids is what we call a sellout yes i said it. Its not the conservative thing because people are gonna have different views but to discredit your own race and deny a problem exist for gain is wrong. I hate that. My grandparents marched in Mississippi and with Dr. King to change America. So when my grandfather sees the racism still alive means something to me. Now like I stated earlier racism isnt as widely shown as it once was but it does exist. I recently visited the Dr. King memorial in Montgomery. It touched me he, Malcolm X, Medgar Evers, and many others died to change the world. Remember that.... also rest in peace Radio Raheem

Saggin' in America By Guest Writer: DEL0 of the Goon Squad

Saggin' is another staple in hip hop/ urban culture. It is often defined by people outside of the culture however. To most people this is just there swagg, there style, and just another way to express themselves. To people outside of the culture they dont like it. They look @ people who sagg with disgust. Why make a big deal over something like this is it hurtin' anybody? I understand people don't wanna look @ somebody saggin' but if u dont wanna see why are you looking. Is that so hard to do just look the other way. Dont stare and talk shit lol. Some people actually come up to that person and say why are your pants so far down? Some laugh when asked or smile, some respond. But if you're saggin' you must have a reason RITE!! Wrong all people dont do something for a reason. Some people just do it just because but some have reasons. QUESTION: Dont we have bigger things to worry about? Like gas, voting, and etc. i do think theres more important things we need too worry about. Like did u know in some towns in Louisiana there are fining' & putting people in jail for saggin. What the fuck? What is the world coming to?

Peace

08 Fresh For You Suckas

Fashion has and will continue to be one of the biggest elements in hip-hop. And because so many are getting ready to go back to school we need you to be the freshest cut-throats on campus. So we at SPlifted Research give you the 2008 School Daze Guide to Fresh...

Shirt Style: skateboard/hip- rock gear- Tighter fitting shirts don't go baggy that is too early millenium. ex. Vurt, Volcom, Famous, DC Shoes, Band Tees, LRG, Castle & Crooks.

Jeans style: You don't wanna go to baggy or too tight. Think Lupe or Kanye not 03 rappers lol. Most Definately try Levi's, Lrg, or slimmer style jeans. Big guys i feel you i am in the same situation lol we can do it too.

Shoes- Shoes make the majority of your outfit. Experiment with neon colors only if cost permit. But the type of shoe is what really matters. Hi Tops really go with your style if ur with the hip hopster style of Lupe, Kanye, and Lil Wayne. I personally am on Muska Skytops, High Top Vans, and of course Chuck Taylors. But i also rock Forces(only lows) and Jordans(only mid and highs lol).

Accessories- I am completely straight but im a sucker for accessories. Accessories make ur outfit complete. Small things like a necklace, neckcheif, hat, or even a watch can make you a style icon. Another important element is the shade or glasses. That is what makes the man lol. But there are guide lines to accessories. Never to much. Dont overload yourself. Also in hats there is one rule... If it ain't New Era don't wear it. Simple enough...

Hopefully this guide has been helpful. We will stay with fashion themes but our next guide will be out for the winter. So good will hunting my friends

Today's Featured Grab: Illmatic

Alright i robbed you of a classic so here's my redemption. Illmatic along with Wu-Tang's 36 Chambers and Biggie's Ready To Die brought rap back East. Illmatic also was the first album to receive 5 Mics from the Source. So it has historical relevance and it also shows you Nasir has been a top 5 rapper since day 1. Of the album the standouts are the "World is Yours", "Halftime", And "It Ain't Hard To Tell". Also it is probably one of my favorite complete albums. So enjoy....

Featured Lady: Ms. Lauren London

Lauren London, love of my life, when God made you he broke the mold. The special thing about Ms. London is she is pretty as hell. Now I may have lost some of you so let me explain. When u say someone is fine or something like that you are almost implying they are only good for sex. Beautiful or pretty however means you could marry and have kids with someone lol. She has the personality, face, and I'm not gonna lie the body to be any man's Mrs. And unlike other sex symbols she always dresses as a lady and presents herself that way. And last but not least she can actually act. I mean you can't say that about Megan Good...

Throwback Album: Life After Death

The Notorious B.I.G. is in my opinion and in the opinion of true students of hip hop the greatest mc to ever touch a mic. And although Ready to Die is one of the great debut albums in history, Life After Death stands out as a crowning achievement in 1990s East Coast Rap. The album is dark like its predecessor but also invokes what Biggie thought would be his legacy in music. The album is set in two discs. The first disc can be described as the pop album and the latter as the street album. Of the songs of the Album, Hypnotize, Fuckin U Tonight, Notorious Thugs, 10 Crack Commandments, and Sky is The Limit stand out boldly on an overall classic album. The album is so great I can't put the upload go cop that shit...

We are here to serve the public with post on hip hop, politics, fashion and other things in the intrest of "urban youth" and hip-hop addicts. Morgan Freeman

I would like to take the moment send my prayers to Morgan Freeman and his family. He is one of my favorite actors with roles as Mr. Joe Clark, God, and recently Luscious Fox just for a few. I hope he can recover and be healthy and continue to be an inspiration to many people including me...

News For The Moment: Soulja Doesnt Wanna Be A Good Rapper?

According to HiphopDx.com Soulja Boy feels that improving his rap skills would ruin his respect that he has from his fans. He states he could improve his skills but chooses to continue his style that rode him to his fame. Now as ludacris as that sounds the lad may have appoint. While he may be at best a horrible rapper his respect does come his gimmicks and suprisingly good production skills. I mean not to compare him to the legendary godfather of Crunk, Lil' Jon, but neither are known as being great emcees but are respected producers. Soulja Boy is and as he claims will never be a lyrical emcee. As horrible as that is(I understand Hip-Hop Addicts) he may have a point. But the "Boy Wonder" may not be a one hit wonder. We will find out...

Today's Featured Grab: DJ Drama And Ludacris - The Preview

Ludacris is hands down is one of the best emcees of all-time. He shows his relevance in this DJ Drama Gangsta Grillz Album. This mixtape also features the highly publicized song, "Politics/Obama is Here". In the song Ludacris supports Obama and boasts about how some of his songs appear on Mr. Obama's iPod. Although the Obama camp has sharply denounced the song it adds to its appeal to the mainstream. Overall i give my props to Luda and Drama...
